RACEYA

RaceYa is a platform for learning about STEM through play. By racing, exploring, and playing with a modular remote control car, kids can learn the basics of physics, mechanics and electronics. Adjust the wheelbase of the car to see how it affects the turning radius, change out tire materials to see how friction affects steering, adjust the wheel diameter to change your speed, and change gear ratios to increase your torque.

My role as Product Design Engineer was to redesign the entire car from the ground up with assembly and manufacturability in mind. I used Onshape 3D CAD to model the car, and 3D printed all components at home on my MakerBot printers. I designed a modular gearbox system that easily attached to car, a rack and pinion steering system, an adjustable wheelbase mechanism, and made all parts ready for injection molding. In addition to the design, I helped source off the shelf electronics and components and managed the Bill of Materials.
